Today I decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather to get some final wear out of one of my favorite summer tunic dresses. We went on a long walk this morning through Mount Pleasant, the neighborhood where my parents lived when I was born. The first time Chris and I went exploring there, we unwittingly happened upon my childhood (infant-hood?) home. I thought I recognized the area for some reason, so I called my mom and she informed me that we were standing right in front of our old house. Spooky.
The area has changed a lot since my parents decided to move away, and there are a couple of great places we keep coming back to. Flying Fish Coffee and Tea is a favorite, and Beau Thai is one of the better Thai restaurants I’ve come across in the city. (Their cocktails are phenomenal. Try the Sparkling Lemongrass or the Thai Basil Gimlet.) We also make a practice of scouring the neighborhood for open houses and yard sales, especially on Sundays. For some reason, Mount Pleasant always has a surplus of both. Nice way to spend a day.
I love that you’ve started a blog. I’m food blogging over at fortunegoodies.com. I honestly believe (or maybe hope is the better word) that blogging will be the key to my future happiness. Happy to see a fellow newbie blogger going for it. Good luck!
Thanks, Yang! It’s been fun so far. I’ve got a lot of ideas and now I finally have a place for them.
I love your blog! I definitely want to try out some of your recipes, they look delicious.
